How to Use the School Bus Surplus System
The NC School Bus Surplus system provides an up-to-date listing of all surplused school buses in North Carolina. All of the features of the system are accessible through the links at the left of the main screen. An explanation of each link is provided below.
SURPLUS
Full Bus Listing
This presents a listing of available buses for sale across the state. Buses are initially sorted alphabetically by the county name. You can change the sorting of any column by clicking on the (
) sort icon, which alternates the sorting between ascending and descending. By clicking on the county name for a bus which you are interested in, you will receive further information on that bus as well as contact information for making the purchase.
Bus information includes the county, bus number, passenger size, make, year, mileage, whether a handicapped lift is present, price and any extra information related to the vehicle.
Buses Grouped By County
This listing is categorized by county name, allowing for a quick view of buses in a specific county. Click on the expand toggle (
) to expand a specific county listing and click on the collapse toggle (
) to close it. Alternatively, you can use the "+Expand" and the "-Collapse" links at the top and bottom of the listing. These links expand/collapse the entire listing, not just a specific county.
County Contacts
This link presents a listing of each county's contact information for purchasing buses. Information includes the contact person, address and phone numbers.
County Map
Map of the state of North Carolina showing all of the county designations. This map appears in a separate window.
Search
This feature allows you to select one county (or two) and receive a listing of all the buses from that county(ies) and determine the number of listings you want to return (10 is the default). Only counties which have buses for sale are listed.
